Sam Garcea
Sam Garcea, a partner at Confente Garcea, has been practicing law exclusively in Hamilton, Ontario for the past 26 years. Sam originally attended the University of Waterloo where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and moved on from there to the University of Manitoba to achieve his Master’s Degree. Lastly, he attended the University of Windsor to earn his Law Degree before being called to the Bar in 1994.
Sam is currently a member of the Family Law Liaison Committee, the Legal Aid Area Committee, and the St. Thomas Moore Guild.
Sam practices mainly in the area of Family Law which includes not only custody, divorce, support and division of property, but also Child Welfare law and represents parents involved with the Children’s Aid Society. He also acts for parties purchasing and selling a home as well as those needing assistance with the preparation of Wills and Power of Attorneys.
Andrew Confente
Andrew has been practicing law since 1994 with Sam Garcea. He obtained a B.A.(Honours) from McGill University and his law degree from the University of Windsor.
His practice is focused on criminal law which include the following offences: criminal code, drug & federal, youth, & provincial In addition, Andrew has also obtained experience in the fields of immigration and family law, though he presently restricts his practice to criminal law. He has previously served as part time prosecutor in criminal and federal matters.
Andrew is active in the community volunteering his time with both legal and non-legal organizations. He is a Past President of the Hamilton Criminal Lawyers Association and was a Director with the Ontario Criminal Lawyers Association.
Andrew is also fluent in French and Italian.
Alayna Dueck
Alayna Dueck is a Hamilton-based lawyer who exclusively practices in criminal defence. She seeks to provide outstanding advocacy to her clientele. Ms. Dueck defends against criminal charges of all kinds; and is also available to assist victims and witnesses of crimes.
Ms. Dueck graduated from the University of Toronto with her law degree in 2017, and has been practicing criminal law ever since. She trained with several well-regarded criminal lawyers in Toronto prior to joining Confente Garcea in Hamilton.
Ms. Dueck passionately defends the rigorous constitutional protections found in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms for every client who comes through her door. She believes that it is her duty and privilege to hold the state and its agents up to an exacting standard, so as to protect the rule of law and its function within democracy.
Alayna Dueck is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Criminal Lawyers Association, and the Hamilton Lawyers Association.
Krista Hampson
Krista Hampson attended Laurier University in Waterloo Ontario where she obtained her BA. Since then Krista has held various positions and for the last five years she has worked at Confente Garcea. Krista is a Family Law assistant to Sam Garcea.
Donna Kellar
Donna Kellar has been a legal assistant for over 25 years and she has been at Confente Garcea for the last 11 years. Donna attended Mohawk College and obtained her Diploma in Office Administration-Legal. She has worked in the area of real estate and estates exclusively. Donna also assists within the area of Family Law at Confente Garcea.
Courtney Cannon
In September of 2019, Courtney joined Confente Garcea as a placement student to complete her mandatory hours set out by the Law Society of Ontario. She shadowed Andrew Confente, Criminal Lawyer, and Alayna Dueck, Associate Lawyer, throughout her time at Confente Garcea.
Upon graduating from Mohawk College, Courtney was hired at Confente Garcea. Courtney is a legal assistant to Andrew Confente.
